Marcelo Eli (b. 1989) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersection of epic myth and personal storytelling. Drawing from art history, literature, and mythology, Eli creates a symbolically charged intertextual synthesis of past and present, bringing inherited narratives into dialogue with contemporary experience.
Grounded in a classical understanding of composition, Eli works intuitively, allowing emotional resonance to guide structure, color, and gesture. Archetypal figures—warriors, muses, monsters, and lovers—become vessels for transformation, desire, grief, spiritual contemplation, and mortality.
At the center of his practice is a tension between an American sense of “now” and a European sense of “then.” Through this collision of time, myth, and lived experience, Eli explores the enduring questions of human existence: mortality, ecstasy, violence, belief, and conviction. His paintings become personal myths—charged spaces where the sacred, tragic, and timeless intersect.
